There is so much I love about this session. Rebecca has always been absolutely stunning in front of the camera. I photographed her maternity and newborn session. It was a no-brainer to ask her to come in and do the motherhood session.

My vision for this session was to pull from art to create photos that have a rich painted feel. I also changed the way I positioned the light so there would be a quick fall-off (a bit photography-nerd info for you). I added the smokey-blue tulle to add to the feeling of art’s grand masters.

My goal for this session - and all motherhood sessions - was to capture the connection between mother and child. So often, mothers are behind the camera, or taking a selfie. I wanted to capture the heart of the relationship between a mother and her child - the love, the bond and the magic. I also wanted to capture a portrait that would become an heirloom piece - something that will be appreciated as a beautiful and moving (and treasured) artwork for generations.

It will be up to others to decide whether or not I achieved my goal. But I love the result. To celebrate the portraits that came from this motherhood session, I decided to share the full gallery with you. So, enjoy (and get in touch if you would like to book in your own motherhood session!)
